How to make Company Name Available but NOT required?

It sounds like something on your template has removed the validation from being used or something has altered the code ...

I go to your site and cannot create an account without completing the company name ...

Oh the sillyness of it all ... I am almost embarressed to admit this. The company name is in fact required if the minimum value is over 1, but what is not happening is simply the little red star to indicate the fact it is required is not appearing. How stupid am I, when I saw no red star I ASSUMED it was not required (ASSUMED - ###### out of U and ME Doh!)

Silly ol' bear ...

Those are just "text" indicators to the customer ... check the language file to update your settings for those ...
