purchase more than max product quantity by selecting different attributes - fixable?

I've searched around for this but haven't found anything useful.

I am going to start selling online services. With each service there are associated digital download products and there is an option to choose a hard copy DVD which will be mailed to the customer. There are three options in total which are attributes: class recording as download; class recording as DVD; no class recording.


Here is the problem:

Say there are 20 slots left for the service. If I select my desired attribute, say "no class recording" and then add 15 slots to cart AND THEN go back to the same product/service and add another 15 slots but with DIFFERENT attributes, such as "class recording as download". My cart will register them as two different products but will still allow me to purchase 30 and then my product quantity automatically goes to -10 in the admin panel.

Can anyone offer some help???? Below are some relevant settings for my cart.





I have the No, Shipping Address Required and Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address checked for the product.

I have the special/download combo selected so that it will always ask for shipping info to make sure the product quantity for the product is updated for every purchase. I also have Configuration > Stock --> Allow Checkout set to false so someone can't checkout if they have a larger quantity of the product than is left.
