Help required

Hi,

I am new to zen cart and PHP aswell. But i have got excellent programming skills in most of languages and if i get my head around it i am sure it will be matter of hours to get to know basic stuff.

i want your help to guide me to right path. where shall i start from. at the moment i want to try zen cart on local machine which has IIS 5.0 installed on XP professional. I have tried installing zen cart but i got this message "Directory listing denied This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed."

And to learn PHP where should i start. Any link to basic tutorial for PHP and zen cart.

ZenCart requires php & mysql which can be installed on IIS but for development purposes one of these might be handier

Thanks for reply. Actually i was waiting for other members to put some light on this topic. As i said i am totally new to it. so please bear with me.

Here is the scanrio:

I want to test all the transaction on my localhost before going live on webserver. My localhost has windowsXP Pro so i can install IIS and Apache. Webserver will have linux, PHP5 and MySql.

What do i need to install on localhost?
Is there any documentation available for beginers?
Is it easy to go live on webserver and how?
What are basic steps to follow?

Sorry for being a newbie

Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S which one should i go for WAMP or XAMPP

My personal opinion is this is a waste of time...best to upload to a host and test there as there are many many things one would have to setup for all to be tested locally mostly ports and some mail server and then all might need different settings on the host.

Just get with a good host that actually supports ZenCart

which one should i go for WAMP or XAMPP

Read the docs for each and use the one that makes more sense to you for local development/styling
