Merging product quantities

Hi, I know this has been covered before in the forum, but with no solutions that suit me, so here goes.

I run an online store which distributes opensource software, I am now supplying the software on USB drives.

There are 3 different products which come on the USB drives and I would like to set one product quantity for all 3 which will go down by one whenever somebody buys any one of those 3 products.

So when I set the product quantity, I enter the ammount of blank USB drives I have in stock instead of dividing that by 3 and setting an individual quantity, so even if I only have 1 USB drive left all 3 products show untill one more is sold, then all 3 are marked as sold out.

This is going to require a good bit of custom code to get around normal inventory tracking. When you custom code this you can create a solution that specifically suits you

I was worried that somebody might say that, this could end up being a task for my holiday in May. If I do get it working I will submit the code to Zen Cart mods.

I did consider that, but I don't think it would advertise the different products as well.

Would be very interested in finding a fix to this problem!!! Had a nightmare with the same problem using access but would love to get ZC working with it!
