Home page content always displaying?

Hi

I am using latest version of zen cart and added a few addons, recently i have noticed that suddenly the homes page content is displaying on my site even when i click on a category? See URL below where my home page content states : Welcome to The Antique Toy Collectors! blah blah, this used to dissappear when i clicked on a cat in left nav but now its always there. i think one of the addons has screwed things up? Can anyone point me in the right direction for the file to change to sort this out? Thanks

If I click on the link you've given my browser blocks progress because you've given a secure link with a self-signed SSL certificate, and then only valid for the domain cash.awardspace.com and not your domain. This makes you sound like a scammer. If you're not, I recommend that you fix this ASAP.

In respect of your question, you've told us that you've installed some add-ons and suspect that one of them is causing the problem, but you haven't told us which ones they are.

Happily you've developed your template properly, i.e. created your own folder. What happens if you switch back to classic, does the problem go away? This can be helpful to know for the purposes of isolating the specific file or files causing the problem.

Oh yeah this is a development site i have not sorted the SSL stuff yet. Hmmmmm first i will take yoiur advice and switch back to classic and see what happens. I have added about 10 addons so will take time to list. First of all let me try changing template never thought to try that ;) Thanks for the help so far :)

... and there are over 1,300 add-ins for Zen Cart in total so it would take a while for anybody helping you to work through the possibilities let along any clashes.

I'd strongly recommend that you keep add-ins to a minimum at this time if you're planning for your site to be around for any length of time, as every add-on will represent extra work, and possibly an obstacle to upgrading to Zen Cart 2 at some time in the future. And certainly keep good records of those you do install, as you'll need it for the upgrade.

I have a list of what they are :) I understand the need for testing and logging changes i work in IT hehehe

I have a development area where i test teh addons but for some reason i missed this subtle change until now and dont know when it happened which is really annoying.

Have changed my template to classic and same thing happens, what file generates the catergoris main page, you know when you click on a category and it takes you to the category main page, what i will do is find which addons i have have changed that file and replace it with the original?

Any ideas?

I'd look first to see in your includes/modules/pages/index/main_template_vars.php file. This is the file that determines which template should be used to display your index page and switches from the tpl_index_default.php template for the home page, to the tpl_index_categories.php template once you click on a category link. The code that you are seeing repeated in the lower page lives in the index_default template.

If that doesn't yield anything, the next question will be to identify whether the tpl_index_categories.php template has been changed. As this happens when you switch to classic too, that would point the finger at the template_default version.

Hiya

It was a while ago so cant honestly remember what i did, i think i had to set up a whole new cart again from what i recall and start from scratch was very annoying but i know it was a plugin that caused the problems. I wish there was a more user friendly way in zne cart to install plugins where you simply upload a zip file from admin and it tells you if it is going to change a file that has already been changed. i like zen but i think the plugin installation process needs to be made a bit more user friendly.

I've managed to resolve this problem now it turned out to be the faq module that we installed.
