limit featured, special and new product descriptions

Is there a way to limit the text description for the featured, special and new products modules that appear in the center column. I have changed "display product description" to "0" in featured listing and new listing, but this has done nothing. The reason I want to limit or get rid of the descriptions is because the text messes up the bottom alignment of each product in my 2 column layout

If anyone knows the answer to this, Thanks a whole lot in advance.

Did you try this:

admin panel/ configuration/ product listing/ Display Product Description

1. Change from 150 to whatever you like

This does work for "product listing". eg: when I change the value the product description length changes. But this is not what I want to change. I want to change the length of the description in the "products on special", "featured products" and "new products" modules. Not the side box ones, just the modules that sit in the center column.

I've checked the "specials_index","featured_products" and the "new_products" php files. The thread said to find this line "$featured_products->fields['products_description'] " but its not in either file.

Are you wanting to change the length of the products_description on the separate pages for New Listing ... All Listing ... Featured Listing ...

If so, I do it the lazy way and go to the:

Configuration ... Featured Listing ...

Display Product Description
How many characters do you want to display of the Product Description?

0= OFF
150= Suggested Length, or enter the maximum number of characters to display

Configuration ... New Listing ...

Display Product Description
How many characters do you want to display of the Product Description?

0= OFF
150= Suggested Length, or enter the maximum number of characters to display

Configuration ... All Listing ...

Display Product Description
How many characters do you want to display of the Product Description?

0= OFF
150= Suggested Length, or enter the maximum number of characters to display

Thanks to everyone for their advice, I have set the "Display Product Description" in "featured listing", "new listing" and "all listing" to "0" or off but this didn't even remove one word from the descriptions. I have given up and reverted back to a single column layout. Now it looks neater but a little sparse.

If the add-on/customization is not using the control features on the products_description then these settings will not work for you ...

It is hard to say shooting in the dark as to why things are not working correctly to control the length of the products_description in the listings ...
