Adding a coupon to the order confirmation

How can I set up a coupon so that after a customer has ordered, an email gets sent to the customer with a special coupon as a thank you for your first order? But once they order again they do not receive the same email with the notification of the coupon? Or is there a better spot to put the coupon code besides the email for second time buyers?

You don't want to give them the Discount Coupon on the Create Account, that is built it, but want to give it with completion of the first order instead?
