Help with SQL Queries - Have too many

Hi Everyone

I have a nice site but my host is annoyed at me and wants me on a VPS server as i'm hogging the SQL database with queries from my site.

Now i don't blame them as it's true.

Front page usually has around 170 queries.

Product info pages have around 400 to 500 queries.

Thats just too much and even on a VPS server i have been told i need to cut the queries to under 300.

I tried installing Simple_Cache and failed and the other cache module does very little for me.

Is there any way to cut the number of my SQL queries down without altering the entire look of my store.

I need help desperately on this.

Apparently your host is not used to dealing with dynamic database-driven websites.

You'll probably find that the VPS service they want to sell you is more costly than moving to another hosting company who has their servers tuned for running database-driven sites. If you want recommendations of better hosts, see the "Certified Hosts" link at the top of this page.

is easy to install and it dose really work .

also , turn off non essential stuff , like if you category count , Whos online side box, etc..

I moved onto their VPS servers which they claim have just 60 people on them as opposed to 1000 on their shared servers. Paying 4 times more money for it but there is a 90 day money back guarantee in place.

My queries have been cut right down since installing the latest version of Query_Cache and on the front page its around 70 queries per session and on the product info page it's around 140 queries and i'm reading your page on the tpl_main__page and disabling left and right headers when a product is displayed so i should be able to get that down to under 100 queries and maybe a lot less.

I have noticed site speed up since i started working on reducing the queries.

The problem my hosts said was that in one hour i had logged 500,000 SQL queries to the database.

I didn't realise queries were an issue and thought the only thing i should concern myself with is bandwidth and how much is used.

I'm learning though and this site has been an invaluable help.

Hi there

Yes i installed that today but i got it directly off the programmers site because the ZenCart site has an old version.

The latest version is 1.6 and it's really done a fabulous job.
