    Idea or Suggestion Custom Directories

Ok, I've read all the stuff about creating custom directories so when you edit the .php file, you don't losse the changes when there is an upgrade. I created a folder called "Custom".
    includes
    languages
    english
    Custom

I copied the index .php file from the "english" directory and put it in the "Custom" directory. Then I edited the file in the "Custom" directory and uploaded back to the server... but the changes are not apparent on the site.

    Thoughts?

    Default Re: Custom Directories

I think you've misunderstood slightly. The suggestion is that you create a custom template (which doesn't need to be called custom, that's just a commonly used example). This template will have strategically placed folders with the same name as the main template folder into which the files you change should be placed. The template is then enabled and the changed files are used instead of the default versions.

There's a tutorial on this in the FAQ.
