Is Zen cart secure still?

So i noticed Zen cart hasn't been updated sicne 2007. I am starting a website that may attract some "hackers" so i am kind of worried about using a program that hasn't been updated in such a long time.

I noticed how strong the community here at Zen cart is so i think i must be missing something.

Are there security updates being released via the community or something?

If not could someone shed some light onto why people use Zen cart rather than some other service.

My distributor uses a data feed to update product directly into zen cart so it would be much easier to use, i am just concerned about security.

there have been security updates periodically.

most recent was just a few days ago.

there is also a new version that's been talked about releasing into Beta
