Custom menu , Java + Css? not flash, looks amazing

Does anyone have any tutorials or ideas of how this menu was accomplished?

That's a javascript sliding menu, i.e. uses javascript rather than java, plus css. It's relatively easy to do with jQuery (which will be built into Zen Cart 2.0). Here's a tutorial where the menu can be launched on a click. It's much the same to launch it on a hover.
