Check that your port 80 is not blocked by Skype or some other program if you still cannot get things to work. You can see which programs are blocking port 80 on your system by going to Windows Start button > apachefriends > xampp > port checking

Furthermore, I notice that you are using a XAMPP version that is newer than the one recommended in the book.

As such, you might have to make some port changes to your XAMPP installation for things to work properly.

You can do a search in the forums to see what are the solutions.

Ok, I still cannot solve the problems, as this point, I've delected as what you have mentioned, newer version of VAMPP. Hopefully you can direct me to where I can download the old version that the e-book is using as not have so many problems in installing what so call step by step tutorial. OR should I download the latest Zencart v1.38a to get it started??

Steven300 & canopy were right, you may also want to disable ANY virus protection and firewall until you get it working, then enable things until you know what is causing it not to work.

Most times you will need to disable windows firewall or norton firewall etc or set exemptions so that the software has full passage though the firewall.

What are the results when you run the port checking program I mentioned earlier? Are any other programs blocking port 80?
