To keep customer email address secret.

email is business secret. i do not want to exposed to my staff or newbie hacker. for some one do not know zencart and php, so this way, i can keep my email secret.

i want to encry customers email address at mysql. and then displace correct email, that is, decode if necessary. i know how to encode,decode. but i do not know where to put those code.

1. when customer register, the code will encode the email and insert mysql.
2. when send email to customer for welcome email and order confirmation email, the code will decode the email and send to correct email address.

where to insert my code to get it work? or any better idea.

If they can hack into your db already, you are pretty much done :).For your employees, you dont trust them?

I suggest that you do a search for TABLE_CUSTOMERS. You'll probably find a use of the customer's email address close by each of them. As a backup you could also search on 'customers_email_address' as the specific database column, though that would be less reliable, since columns can be extracted using wildcards and written back as part of an array.

I suspect that you will find a lot more usage being made of the email address than you are expecting, needing a lot of intrusive changes in the code. Also got to say that I think the benefits are very marginal. This information isn't normally encrypted and I can't really see a benefit unless you actually expect to be hacked or don't trust your staff, in which case those are the problems that really need to be resolved.

anyone can see the mysql by look at configure.php to get mysql connection info, everybody kow where is configure.php.

but maybe they do not know zencart well and do not know where is the encode/decode from. am i correct?

when they get table customers from mysql,they get encoded email address.

anyone give a advice, which code put user register info into mysql and which function do extract the email address and send the register welcome email and order confirmation email?
