red flag Setting up a new Card Type

Hi all, I am currently using the Zen Cart Credit Card Offline Processing module which validates credit card numbers before passing them to me for offline processing. My problem though is that it does not validate the Irish Laser Card which is infact a Debit card. It has 19 digits and may be prefixed with either "6304", "6706", "6771" or "6709".

Is there any way I can add this card so that Zen Cart will validate it? I looked in the Developer Tools for VISA but cant seem to find exactly where the validation code is - I was planning to just change one of the names and details of the existing cards there, such as JCB or some other one.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

This is not as simple as it may seem and involves edits to a few files... but before I go into that, there are increasing security issues relating to offline card processing.

Is your card processor (bank) aware that you are taking offline payments - and have you had your server audited for PCI Compliance?

If you are not aware of the risks involved (and the severe penalties you could incur if your activity breaches ccard security) then please check up on PCI Compliance and read through your Merchant Agreement carefully...

    Hi Schoolboy,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes the server is PCI comliant and uses a SSL cert. The merchant account is specially set up for offline processing. It was initially installed to receive telephone orders or as it is called "Customer Not Present" orders.

Is this a major overhaul do you think?

And once you have installed CEON's module, completely remove the ZC mod for offline cards - delete the relevant php files too...

Thanks a lot! Also it was interesting what you said regarding offline processing, so for any one else interested in this - they shoud heed your advice and be 110% sure they are authorised to do this by their Merchant.
