red flag Customer registration is email validated and require activation ?

    Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help me with a question about Customer regsitration process. I am considering using Zen as my store.

During customer registration. Is the email validated and needs to be activated via a link in their email from the store ?

    Thanks.

    Hanly

red flag Re: Customer registration is email validated and require activation ?

    Hi,

What do you mean "No" ?

Are you saying any one can use bogus emails or other people emails to register ?

Or new users need to validate their email first by following a link from their email (used in registration).

    Thanks.

    Hanly

As is... there isn't a validation link in the registration email, however, you can set it to have a validation link if you want. I thought you were asking if this was the default (validation)

How do I set it so the sign up email must be validated via a email validation link?

There's no setting in admin to do what you mention. If you feel confident enough, take a look at the Newsletter Subscribe mod. It requires its subscribers to validate their email address by clicking a link in their welcome email.

Yes, if it was me, that's where I would start.

A lot of people have asked about this feature in the past, so it may be that someone out there already has a solution. As far as I'm aware, there isn't one publicly available.

Thanks for your time. I would think this would be a popular request and I am surprised I couldn't find more info. Thank you again!!

... and we add further to the list of create account features - validate vs don't validate email addresses -

Are you going to prevent someone from checking out while they validate their email account? More obstacles to checking out = fewer orders ...
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.
