If you are using the FTP connect method, DW will show a small (easy to miss) msg saying the upload failed. It really should complain louder than that. I've shot my foot before editing a config.php file and forgetting to change the permission on the server.

How can I set the permissions so that it will upload the file?

I had same problem with Dreamweaver CS3 Portable. You should try other version. Trial version of Dreamweaver CS has been working fine for me. Even netBeans editor is much better than Dreamweaver, but doesn't include WYSIWIG environment (which is de facto not useful for desinging Zen Cart's templates)

in manage site, edit your site. On the advanced tab, select Remote Info, in Access select FTP. Set up your site FTP access info... Should run under Passive FTP, but some host will only allow SFTP. If your still having problems try switching server compatibility.

File permissions on the host should not have to be changed if your log on with the right credentials.

Btw. is your Dreamweaver able to save changed files on your hard disk drive?... It sounds strange but I had same problem.
