Some noobie questions!!!

Hi there,

Considering using zenCart for a new project.

How flexible is the templating system?
In relation to products, is it possible to have widgets like rolling over a colour to then display the product in that colour?

Basically I guess the question is, can I add my own bits and pieces of code to product pages etc to add functionality that might not be available in the core install? Is this easy to do?

The templating is pretty flexible. Lots of things can be turned on and off in the admin. Other things can be changed in the stylesheet. There are free templates available for Zen Cart. To get an idea of some of the looks you can achieve, you can see them in action at http://(sorry, site offline)/... and those are just the tip of the iceberg in what can be done.

I'm not sure about the color changing functionality you mention. I'm familiar with it, but I know it's not built into ZC. Someone else might have some ideas/pointers on that topic.

Hi Justin,

Yes making modifications is very simple within the zen-cart system once you understand the structure it is built upon. There are plenty of documents out there explaining it to you in detail as well.

As far as the color rollover, we did the same thing on one of our sites which you can see here:

Since Zen-Cart is open source, if you are a developer the possibilities are truly endless.
