High Parse time, but low query?

Our website is hosted locally at www.tjcollection.biz. It is still a work in progress, but I am having an issue with very high parse times, but lower query count and query time.


This only occurs on the product pages, as the main page and category loading load semi-fast.

Main page:
Parse Time: 0.654 - Number of Queries: 189 - Query Time: 0.16086656008911

Category page:
Parse Time: 0.859 - Number of Queries: 259 - Query Time: 0.19266222172546

Products Page:
Parse Time: 9.490 - Number of Queries: 236 - Query Time: 0.38867607672119


The products page causes the CPU to spike to 100%, so is this likely an issue with our hardware, or is there some database configuration issue here?

It looks like I may have found the issue.

It seems the parse time is taking forever due to the pictures folder. Once I moved it to a different location, the times were reduced to 1-2 seconds for my parse time.

Is there a good limit for the number of files in the defined photo directory?

Is this possibly a problem with zen cart itself? or is it something with the directory structure?

I think it's related to the OS:

Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0

(on Linux servers issues like that do not seem to exist)

Sorry, no solution. Maybe someone with IIS knowledge knows how much IIS can handle or how to solve the issue?

How many images you currently have? Limit it to undedr 30k under each subfolder.

There used to be about 16,000 images in the folder, but after running it through a script I found we only needed about 4500. I have found other issues relating to large folders and IIS upon paulm's suggestion, so that may be the right area to look to now.

Of course, if you have anywhere else to point to a fault, that would be great as well. 3 seconds is a far cry from the 9 - 15 it used to take, but is still a ways off from the near 1 sec parse time that seems to be common to other zen cart deployments. With no images in the folder, it does load less than 1 sec per product page.

Hopefully I can find a solution that doesn't involve putting the images into subfolders of a couple hundred images.

Well, either in linux or windows it's not recommended to put too many images in the same folder. Recently I have written a module that automatically creates subfolders and put those images under these folders. However, the problem is that I have not written the backend for it yet (may sound weird, but on the site we are using it we dont need a backend to upload via admin)
