    Default customer log in

    Hi There

Apologies if this has already been answered but I haven't come across it.

I notice an old entry in FAQ's that said at that time all customers had to log in before proceeding with their shopping.

Is this still the case as I don't want my customers to have to do that. I want everything as easy and straightforward for them as possible.

    Thanks very much.

    Den

customers do not need to login to shop, they only need to login/register to checkout.

if you would like to disable that you can install this module:

Thanks both of you for your replies.

As a newbie however I'm still a little confused after reading that thread so please be patient with me

Much of this I can work out once I have uploaded the files and played with them, but I want to be sure this is the cart I will use before purchasing my hosting - unless there is another way?

Basically, I obviously need for my customers to enter their name, address and phone details etc before they pay, but I don't want them to have to ever open an account and/or login.

I have looked at some of the listed sites using Zencart and all of those I have seen have account and login boxes before checkout?

To start with I shall just the Paypal Standard (so they don't need a Paypal account).

I just want them to shop, put things in their basket, proceed to checkout, give me their details and pay - no logins, no accounts, just easy.

Thanks again for any help in advance.

    download this module,

    http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...Account#Status

insde it will have instructions how to install.

what this module does, is it gives the users the option of checking out as a guest, thus no loging in or creating account

I'm afraid after all that it doesn't seem to exist any more.

There is another mod for 'checkout without account but that doesn't have support anymore and looks rather complicated.

It's a shame because it's the only thing I can see at the moment that will stop me using this cart.

If anyone has any other suggestions they would be much appreciated.

    Hi Again

Thanks again for trying to help me out.

To be honest however it all looks a bit beyond me. I need something to more or less work 'out of the box'. I am fine following instructions and adding bits of code etc but looking through that thread I didn't understand a word of it.

This cart seems extremely good and the fact that it is free is hard to believe. I have to say however it's shame the cart uses the customer account function in the way it does. When I shop anywhere the fewer steps I have to take the better - and I like my customers to be able to do the same, because I truly think it puts a lot of people off.

If anyone has any recent experience of using this add on I would be very interested in hearing from them. If not then I think that with regret I will have to look for another cart.

    Thanks again.
