free shipping - nobody knows it's free

I'm using the Multizone Multitable Shipping addon module, with just one zone and one table. Basically it's set up to give a flat rate based on weight to all US buyers.

I want to offer free shipping on a number of products. I have the "Yes, always free shipping" marked on a sample product I'm using for testing, and the freeshipper module installed. That seems to be the correct way to do it. However, I want to use the free shipping as a selling point. The way it is now, it isn't at all clear to the visitor that the product has free shipping when he adds it to his cart, nor when the product is in his cart along with other items. I want it to automatically note clearly that the product is free shipping on the product page, product listing in the category, and search results. Basically anywhere the product price is displayed.

A free shipping image on the product listings and product page would be ideal. I can get by with it only on the product page if necessary, but I would be losing the opportunity of advertising free shipping products as the visitor browses a category.

The only other solution I can think of is a note on the top of the product page that the item is free shipping. This will be the first text shown in the product description excerpt on the product listings as well. How would I code something to show up there only if the "always free shipping" option is enabled on for the product? I don't want to have to add the text manually to each product, because I may want to change it later with a minimum of trouble.

Look at the settings in product type - there is an option to show free shipping image.
