    help question Am I able to get customer's contact information when payment interrupted?

    I received several paypal alerts. 10736 10415 10417 so on.
    It indicates there are a number of customers can't complete the payment process successfully.
    I am just wondering if I can get these customers' contact information even though the payment not completed.

    So I can contact them to achieve the deal.
    Because they are real guys ready to pay, I can win the deal just by helping solve the processing problem.

    Default I got 7 alert:10417 in one day, and only 1 order placed!!!!

    I installed express checkout on 2 sites of mine.
    2 sites are hosted by different hosting company.
    Both using zen 1.3.8
    Site A non SEO-URL rewriter.
    Site B installed and enabled SEO-URL rewriter.

    Site A is good, received tons of orders and only a few alerts. 10417 *4 10736 *3 in 6 days.
    Site B received fewer orders but a lot more alerts. 10010 *1 10415 *1 10417 *14 in 5 days.

    Yesterday, I got 7 Alert:10417, but only one payment completed successfully.

    There are apparent difference between the 2 sites.

    I contacted paypal, and got same answer as mentioned on other threads.
    10417 Transaction cannot complete.
    The transaction cannot complete successfully. Instruct the customer to use an alternative payment method.

    It is possible that the payment method the customer chooses on PayPal might not succeed when you send DoExpressCheckoutPayment. The most likely cause is that the customer’s credit card failed bank authorization.

    Another possible, though rare, cause is that the final OrderTotal is significantly higher than the original estimated OrderTotal
    you sent with SetExpressCheckout at Integration Point 1, and the final OrderTotal does not pass PayPal’s risk model analysis.

    If the customer has no other PayPal funding source that is likely to succeed, DoExpressCheckoutPayment response
    returns error code 10417. Instruct the customer that PayPal is unable to process the payment and redisplay alternative
    payment methods with which the customer can pay.
    But it can't explain the difference between my 2 sites.
    So I am confusing if it's possible something wrong with my site shopping cart system or environment.

    Please advise.

    Seem like the seo module is causing the problem, which one is it?

    I wouldn't think any SEO module would be the cause as they, for the most part, do not do anything to Checkout / Payment pages; due to the importance of them. Not sure what you are selling but I would check further into the Client information.

    Are the Clients with problems new Clients?
    Is their information valid?
    Did you try to contact the Client or they you, about alternative payment methods?

    The problem is I don't know how to contact these clients for alternative payment methods.

    I don't know where they are and who they are. Are these information stored anywhere on my hosting server?

    How to obtain customer information when they get Express Checkout Error?

    I don't know how to edit or delete my last post. So I post once again.

    I just want to get customer information when they get Express Checkout Error such as: 10417.
    Because I keep getting several 10417 errors each day.
    I want to make clear whether these customers are cheats or there may be other methods to get over this problem to help them successfully place orders.
    So I need to know how to contact them. Where to find their contact information?

    Regarding error 10417, PayPal says:
    10417 - The transaction cannot complete successfully. Instruct the customer to choose an alternate payment method. The most likely cause is that the customer’s credit card failed bank authorization. or PayPal's fraud filters are flagging them as risky and PayPal won't accept the transaction.
    So, this means the customer isn't using a valid credit card. That means they may *not* be someone you really want to sell to anyway.

    If the customer got far enough to get that error, then their customer information has already been added to your store as a new customer, which you can see in your admin area. You can use that information to follow-up with them.

    Does that mean, some of those who registered on my sites but have not placed any order can be those who got such error and failed to send a payment ?

    As I know, when paypal express checkout is enabled, people don't need to register to place order.
    So as I supposed, there should have be no ppl who creates account on the site but don't buy.
    So , when I actually found there were still clients who registered but had not bought anything , I was really confused.

    When the customer uses Express Checkout, your store obtains the customer details from Paypal and creates an account for them, because the account is needed for checkout.

    Thus, it is possible that *some* of the customers in your store who have never made a purchase *might* have tried to buy using PayPal Express but encountered a rejected payment. Those customers *might* have made no purchase for many other reasons ... not necessarily because of the 10417 error.
