I need to turn off the newsletters option for new user sign up

I have a client that I switched his current site over to zen cart. In his currently live site he doesn't offer his customers newsletters and he doesn't want to. So when a new customer signs up via his new zen cart site it asks for "Newsletter and Email Details". My client doesn't want that to even show up so how do I get rid of it?

I've already gone to...
Admin -> Config -> Customer Details -> Show Newsletter Checkbox
and set it so that the checkbox is supposed to be turned off however that section and whether the customers wants Text or HTML emails is still showing up on the registration area.

The email selection switch is right below the one you changed, and there's a neswletter option in Configuration - Email Options somewhere.

The email option below the one to turn off the newsletter checkbox is only for selecting whether to have emails be text or html by default. There doesn't appear to be a way to completely turn off newsletters and therefore not even have anything mentioning newsletters when a user registers.

Does anybody have any ideas on this?
