category wide discounts

I am familiar with how quantity discounts work - you pick a product, choose quantity thresholds and discount percentages or amounts, and apply.

What I want is a way to apply this to an entire category. I don't need to mix up items in the category, I just don't want to have to apply the same discounts to hundreds of items when I can set and maintain it with a few categories.

So, is this possible?

I assume you want a Quantity Discount - if so, the Quantity Discounts contribution in the Free Software Add Ons area can do discounts across a category.

If you just want to offer a flat discount on one category, take a look at Salemaker under admin->catalog.

Thanks, I'll was actually considering your module as an option. I may need to do a multiple item discount after all, so that might be my solution. If so, Is your module able to set limits on which items can be grouped together? I may need to set up a discount across a category, so that any 5 items from one category are discounted, but 2 from one category and 3 from another are not discounted. Does yours handle that?

Quantities can be determined by item, by parent category, or by counting all items in the cart.

You can also define products that are exceptions, right?
