Text emails showing &eacute; html code in body

Does anyone know why my text emails are showing html codes like é instead of é? The store is in french, and receiving emails with the special characters appearing in html format is not very good, so having them appear as they should is very important.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem and it seems to be widespread. Unfortunately I found no simple solution. What helped somewhat was to replace all the codes in the language files by the right characters. Works well, except for product descriptions that are in the database where I cannot change them, because products are managed by the client.

For the time being, I use html email where special characters come up fine.
