When a customer selects a product to be added to their cart, I would like to have them fill out a couple text fields that I would use to 'customize' the product for the customer. Is there an option in the product setup that offers this functionality?

Attributes allow for either INPUT boxes or TEXTAREA ... that can be used for this ...

Ok, I found how to make it required. Click on the required button in the legend on the attributes controller screen.
