Default Customers Are Unable To Download eBook (Virtual Product)

    Hello:

I've been working on this issue for over 40 hours, reviewed all the different resources (e.g., Zen Cart Book, Tutorials, Forum, etc.) with no success.

I'm just selling one eBook so far but I'm unable to get PayPal Express to provide the download link after the transaction. Even when I check the order history, I don't see the "order download status" box in the customer's order account.

When I use the Check/Money Order option, after I select "Processing" of the order as Admin, the download file is correctly made available to the customer in their account.

I've made sure I haven't used any illegal characters. It's a zip file. I DON'T see the checkout_shipping page when checking out.

I've used the setting with no effect...
    Processing [2]
    Delivered [3]

I have 'Product is Virtual' as NO and 'Always Free Shipping' as NO.

    Products Quantity Box Shows
No, Do not show Quantity Box and set the
Product Qty Minimum field to 1

    Option Name: Download
Option Value: eBook w/Bonus [Adobe PDF]

How do I add downloads to products? make products downloadable?
    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=71
I've changed permissions on folders per instructions.
    /pub I've tried 777 and 755

I'm only using the PayPal Express and Check/Money Order module. (i.e., green dot)

All the PayPal transactions details are being reported correctly.

Everything seems to be working, except for the customer to have the ability to download the eBook upon using PayPal. Again, I don't see the "Order Download Status" box either.

cURL Proxy Status as Off since I'm using GoDaddy.

When I changed the /pub folder to chmod 777 and did a test charge using PayPal Express, I was able to get the download button/file upon completing the Zen Cart checkout process but I just had a customer make a real purchase after me and she wasn't provided with the download button

I've been observing the shopping cart behavior, and I have noticed that sometimes it will provide the download but the majority of the time it won't.

    Any suggestions?

Has this been resolved? I'm curious because I would like to use ZenCart to offer paid downloads as well. If I could save "40 hours" of frustration that would be awesome! Thanks.

Hey Kernond and the Zen Cart Community,

I was directly adding the virtual product from my main site which is outside of the Zen Cart system.
    /index.php?main_page=shopping_cart&number_of_uploads=0

I didn't realize at the time, Zen Cart uses cookies to insert the 'virtual dowload' into the shopping cart. I found that Zen Cart would correctly add the Item Name to the shopping cart but not the 'virtual download'. So the system would complete the merchant transaction but would not provide the download link since the 'virtual download' wasn't actually part of the transaction. I hope this all makes sense.

Bottom line: I send the visitor to the product page instead and he/she will have to manually select the "add to carton" button.

I would be interested to know though, if there's a special URI that I can use which would properly add the item without having the client visit the product page. Since I've already build a product page on my main website and it's redundant to then send my visitor to another product page within Zen Cart. Does anyone have any suggestions?
