Static text in category sidebox, how?

Working on http://uniformsgalore.com/Zencart/

and on the left hand side, where my categories are, its set up so that once you click on the main category such as "Shoes" or "Uniforms" it opens up a tree of Sub categories. How can i set it up, so that there are some Static text with the categories listed beneath them.

like,

SHOES ( Normal, non linked, text.)
brand1 (linked to the brands shop page.)
brand2 (linked to the brands shop page.)
brand3 (linked to the brands shop page.)
brand4 (linked to the brands shop page.)
brand4 (linked to the brands shop page.)
brand6 (linked to the brands shop page.)

For all the subcats showing all the time, you need an expanded categories mod as well. The latest version of Cat Dressing (not in Free Addons yet) is bundled with an effective expanded cat mod. You can get the zip here for now: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...531#post730531

Got it installed, what is/are the line(s) of code i need to edit to make the main cats normal text.

And what should i change it to be?










also, how doi take of the number counts for each category?

Admin > Configuration > My Store > Show category counts.


Yes, you can use that section to make headings for the category groups. You would make each top cat name the heading for the first subcat in the group, and use the "define" for active/level control to hide all top cats.

Last thing id like to know, can I replace the Shoes category header with a logo? If so How?

And how about doing that for sub-categories?

You can use images for headings by specifying the image filename in the define statement. Replacing category names with images will happen automatically if you save the image with the right filename in the right folder (like
/includes/templates/your_template/buttons/english/catimg23.gif). The readme has more details.

I tried to use Categories Dressing but it changed the look of all my categories and made floating bars everywhere. I tried to figure out how to use it but couldn't to save my life. I had to do a full restore of an old backup to get my normal look back.

Is there a dumbed down user friendly version where you can just add a word or two or just space out the categories better?
