Default Extending field length for addresses

    Hi all,

I have been reading threads on this and tracking down various constants and defines, etc, with the Developer's Toolkit but I can't seem to find the right way to proceed.

I want simply to extend the maximum field length for two fields in my create account page from 32 characters to 64. The two fields are the suburb and city address fields (ENTRY_SUBURB and ENTRY_CITY). Is it possible to edit one of the PHP files within the Zen Cart installation, or do I need to change this in phpMyAdmin?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,

    All the best,

    Rory. :)

phpMyAdmin would be the easiest way.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. Would you be able to direct me to where these fields are in the database...? Also, as far as you know, will changing these values cause any trouble elsewhere in ZenCart?

    Thanks again,

    Rory. :)

Those fields are in the address_book table.

I can't say for sure if increasing the size of those fields would affect anything else in Zencart. If I needed to do that, I would try it first on one of my test sites.

Just out of curiosity, where do you live that your city names have more than 32 characters?

    Hi,

I will backup the site and then give it a go.

It's not that the field will be used for city names - I have renamed suburb and city address line 2 and address line 3 because I live in the Channel Islands (GB) where there aren't any cities but where there are lots of long road and parish names. :)

    Thanks again,

    Rory. :)

    Hi,

Just to let you know that I made the changes in phpMyAdmin and everything seems to be working fine.

    All the best,

    Rory. :)

Be sure that you updated the size of fields in the orders table to accommodate these larger fields from the address_book ...
