Model numbers and reporting

Hi ~ i have a couple of issues.... here goes, I have multiple products that need to have a different model number assigned to each one is the only way to do this through adding a new attribute and creating a different model number for each item?
And i also need to run reports to show what has sold by product model number so that i can re order from each manufacture, how can i do this.... please help

I suspect that something may have gotten lost in the wording of your question. Each product can have its own model number. Are you saying that some of your products need more than one model number?

As the answer to your second question is likely to be related to the first, I'll wait for clarification before tackling it.

Hi Again ~ I have products that have been set up with 3 or more weights that a customer can choose to purchase. IE:

Selling ZenCart Balls: Model number 00

This is the main product, then once in the product page a customer can choose from the drop down menu which one to order

Small - model number 11
Medium - model number 22
Large - model number 33

I'd like to set my zen cart up so that each item has a different model number, and as far as i can see i would need to set up a new attribute for each one, is this right or am i missing something ?

The second question is that i'd like to run reports at the end of each day or week that will tell me by model number and manufacture what i need to order to replenish my stock....
