Add a new side box like "categories" for company web links

I really need a side box that funtions like "categories" but instead of promoting a product I need to promote various company websites. I would like it to view like the attached image.

I am using zen-cart-v1.3.8a

Does anyone know if it can be done- and if so how?

I have looked further into the Free Software Add Ons- and have not really found what I believe will function as I mention in my original post. I did download the editable_sidebox_1-0 module and loaded it- not quite sure if this can be modified in a way that I need.

Any additional help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I looked at EZ Pages but does not seem to offer the depth of catergorizing I would like and it needs to work with the bread crumb navigation. I have attached Side_box_image2.jpg which is how I would like it to view.

There are two categories boxes built in to the current Zen Cart. One aimed primarily at products and the other at documents. If you define your information about the companies to which you are linking as having product type document rather than general product, then you will have two fully-functional category boxes.

That's a bit of a workaround. But apparently what you are looking for is built into Zen Cart 2.0 in a much more robust fashion.

Thanks Kuroi. I won't ask when 2.0 will be out.

I was planning using the Documents for a series of pdf files that I am making available to my users. I will look at it a bit closer.

At the same time I know this may be crazy but- since I will not be using the product category box to sell items at this time. Can it be used in a work around so it will not show: price/sold out, # of units, write a review, and larger image? So it will look more like the file I attached originally in this thread?

You can achieve that editing the product_info template. Though since you'll want to use that later it's not the best solution.

Better but similar would be to create a new product type that specifically matches your "product" needs. Each product type can have its own template, so you would be able to create one perfectly suited to this requirement.

There's information about this in the FAQ and wiki (the same information if my I remember correctly). It's a bit dated, but fundamentally correct.
