Default GZip Compression Error: Pages Wont Load

I'm testing my site on a new server, but for some reason when I switch on GZip Compression from Admin, the site won't load and all I get is the following error:

    Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

The site works perfectly well when GZip Compression is disabled. However, parse times do suffer considerably. The strange thing is that other sites sharing the same server are working well, with GZip Compression enabled. Just not mine.

Has anyone come across this error before when trying to enable GZip? I have the same site uploaded on another server and it works well there with GZip enabled. I'm thinking then that it has to be a server issue, but why are other sites on the same server working fine with GZip?

    Anyone?
