Help needed - Changing default Quantity in Shopping Cart

Hello ,
Im just starting out with ZenCart and had a question. Im building a jewelry store, and much of what we sell is in pairs. I need to figure out how to make the default quantity be 2 for each item ordered, but not require a minimum of 2 pieces (ie. setting the product minumum to 2 wont work for this). I need to be able to sell individual pieces if need be, so all the customer would need to do is change the quantity from 2 to 1 manually. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... thanks.

Are things things that are normally sold as pairs? Are you talking about a pair of earrings (as an example) - Your quantity should still be 1, but specify 'pair' in the name or description.

we want people to be able to buy singles that would be a "1" in the quantity box. "2" would be a pair. we want it to default to a pair "2" but if the customer wanted a single they could change it manually to a "1".
if we use the minimum quantity option, then they wouldn't be able to select "1"
any idea's?
