How to process contact form with new fields data

Zen Cart version 1.3.8a
PHP Version 5.2.9 (Zend: 2.2.0)
MySQL 4.1.22
no mods

I needed to add a few fields to the stock contact form. I was able to find the: includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl-contact_us_default.php and input the code to get the fields to appear on the form. When I process the form, data in the new fields is not being displayed in the email. I located the file: include/modules/pages/contact_us/header_php.php file which appears to be the one that generates the email and sends it. I am not a professional programmer but have some basic knowledge of html and php. I need some direction on how to get the data to appear in the email. I scoured the forum for an answer to no avail. I appreciate any help or guidance in this matter.

fields added to the contact us form as follows:

Full Name (stock install)
Address (custom)
City (custom)
State (custom)
Zip Code(custom)
Phone number (custom)
Year of vehicle (custom)
Engine Size (custom)
Model (custom)
email address (stock install)
Message box (stock install)
