    Default integrating gallery2 problem!

Ok, the installation instructions for Gallery2 make no sense. I have Zen Cart installed and working fine. I am trying to implement Gallery2 but I can't get past a certain point in the installation of Gallery2.

Gallery2 has a ZenCart folder after you extract Gallery2. You are supposed to take the contents of that folder and put it into your ZenCart folder on your web site. Ok fine, I did that. I am able to change the web site template to the ones provided by Gallery2 after this point, sweet. Now here are the problems. Very vague description in the installation instructions at this point... http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:zencart

    Here's where I am stuck...

In Gallery2, you need to make the following changes:

    1. Upload the module files in the gallery2/ directory to your Gallery2 installation’s modules directory.
    2. In Gallery2 Site Administration, click on Plugins and find Zen Cart under the Commerce heading. Then click Install.

Step 1 refers to "your Gallery2 installation’s modules directory". What are they talking about?! I don't have a Gallery2 installation directory!!! Nowhere in the instructions does it say to create/install Gallery2 (which would create an install directory)! I can't even start up a Gallery2 installation. I don't know how to. These instructions are so horrible for Gallery2.

So here's where I stand... I have Zen Cart installed fine on my web site, but I don't have the Gallery2 feature installed. I can't get to an admin feature of Gallery2 to proceed, like the install directions need me to. Somebody please help me.

Gallery2 (http://gallery.menalto.com) is a completely separate program from Zencart.

You need to get a copy of the gallery2 software:-

    Code:
    http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Download
... and choose the FULL, ZIP file to download. It's quite a large file - 21mb - so it will take a while.

Unzip this software on your local machine - or if you have the capacity on your host server C-Panel to FTP upload and unzip on the server, do it there.

If you unzip on the local drive, FTP all the gallery2 folders/files to the required location on the server. The unzipped software occupies a LOT of bytes! ... So you should FTP chunks at a time.

Gallery2 needs its own database. You CAN use the same database as you do for zencart, but you will then need prefixes. (If I recall correctly, gallery installation requires prefixes anyway).

    Anyway... you need to have:

    1. A full installation of gallery2 with its database
    2. A full installation of zencart with its database.

You MUST follow gallery2 install instructions, as I believe there is a certain order of installation processes, when integrating with Zencart.

    Just seen on gallery2 website:

Both must use the same database

... so you need to install gallery2 data onto the SAME database you use for ZC.

    This will require prefixes...
