Weird Spacing Around Links

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.8a and when I added some text to the main shopping cart pages, huge spaces show up around the mailto links in Firefox, and the same spaces show up around all the links in IE. I've redone the text from scratch and cannot find any explanation. Any ideas?

In your stylesheet.css, find this section of code:

a:link, #navEZPagesTop ul li {
padding: 0px 40px 0px 40px;
}

Remove the "a:link," from that, making it look like:

#navEZPagesTop ul li {
padding: 0px 40px 0px 40px;
}
