Have a Drink Club Membership Dsount Pricing

    Hi everyone,

Sorry for the newbie question! I did look for an answer but did not find anything that hit right on point.

I want an option in the customer account creation that asks if they are a member of the wine club. If the customer checks yes, they are given the pricing at a 20% discount. Yes - this is an honesty thing (at some point I may script something to check against the sql table in Joomla for wine club members to verify their membership but at the moment there are too many other things to get going.

Here's what I have done so far: I used the group discount tool to create a Wine Club Member group which is priced with a 20% discount. I can't figure out where someone could take advantage of this when they create an account...

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

PS: So far I am digging ZC - very intense, complete and deep!

    Cheers,
    Larry

The default code does not have an allowance for an automatic group assignment

    Hey Kobra...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

So does that mean that I would ave to review each purchaser manually and assign them to the discount group?

I am assuming (since I am not walmart) that this would not be too onerous as we are unsure of the traffic and sales that the site will generate. However does that not imply that all orders need to be set to a pending status until their membership can be verified and applied?

I am confused though - (that happens a lot) - since ZC has the ability to create discount groups, why not make their availability automatic or easily assigned. Is this something that is being planned for an upgrade?

    Thanks again!

It's not automatic for the reason you mentioned in your first post - it typically requires checking some other database or list.

You could certainly add this automation but you'd have to write code to customize your installation.

I am fairly new also, I have turned on the group pricing thing, made a group called membership with a 10% discount. Whats next?

How do the discounts show up, should the member input a membership number? to compare in database, is it verified manually by name and then we go back in the order and apply discount? Just so i know the process? Any help in this I would appreciate,Thank you

One must Manually add a new customer to a group -
Add some explanation on this and that customers wanting to be added to a group must wait for approval before they can buy at a group discount rate
After they are added the discount is represented ONLY in their cart view
