Error when adding products/catagories

I think this belongs here. I am in the process of moving my cart and finishing my set up, I am moving it to godaddy (please fuss at me for this later ). Everthing else (knock on wood) seems to work, but when I go to add or modify a catagory or product I get an error pop up box -



hit OK and I get



now I am thinking it is a database error?

Should mention that maybe it is a godaddy thing - everything works fine on the host I am leaving.

have you any added any mods for the admin section?
perhaps you've not copied across all files successfully, or perhaps you simply missed a template (override) file or two?
could also be the app used to upload data didn't complete one or more files successfully? solution in this instance would simply be to upload the files again (try using a dedicated ftp application to upload your files if you are not doing so already).

I uploaded the zip file via the ftp in godaddy, but re-uploading now using filezilla. The mods I have in admin are:
the template that changes the colors
Auctions
contests
pdf order center
stock by attribute
add customer in admin
monthly sales
gallery uploader (never got this to work right anyway)
mod uploader (this doesn't work either)
gift card
wishlist

though these were all up before the move & admin was working fine.

i looked through all my core files and couldn't find a reference to any of the errors you mentioned, so at least it seems the error is being generated by one of the mods you have (which at least narrows it down somewhat).

if you re-uploaded all files using filezilla then i am surprised, as it definitely looks like code, not database but...

the fact you re-uploaded and are now getting a different message tells me there is definitely a problem with files somewhere - did you check the log after uploading to ensure nothing was skipped or timed-out? i really cannot see how this error could be database generated, but i don't have the mods you have, so cannot look into the code to see what is being requested to produce the error. if i were to hazard a guess, i would bet on the "gift card" mod, but really this is a stab in the dark.

By the way, that tutorial you referenced only explains a 2 solutions to errors, and how to setup a zen-cart database which is not really all you were doing.

Did you copy ALL files across, or simply the overrides after installing a fresh copy? If only the overrides, how did you install - whas it the godaddy "one-click install" or did you upload the source files and do a custom install? If the Godaddy install, I have found these installs to be dodgy (at least in my humble experience) and believe they occasionally miss files etc. You might have better success by starting again and doing a fresh install with the offical 1.3.8 source, however as i stated previously, I'm really clutching at straws here.

This was a fresh install FTP (using filezilla), then I uploaded ,y backup store files (except for my configure files). I then went into my DB and dropped the new tables and imported my old tables, fixed my cashe. I have done this twice to no avail. I just want to or

i can understand, but i'm afraid i don't have a solution. perhaps if i had the time i would try applying the mods you have, but time is not something i have a lot of right now.

best i can suggest is a process of elimination...

1) get rid of everything on new site, do a fresh install (yes, again!)
2) apply mods one at a time (factory, not your overrides), without bringing over existing database data
3) after installing each mod, test it as well as the problem you are having (if not the same!)
4) if everything works, bring in your overrides, one at a time, test accordingly
5) if everything works here, bring in your database data

at some point you'll hit the problem, and you will know the cause (if not the solution). at least this will give you somethign to focus on rather than stabbing in the dark.

I just gave up, LOL - I re-installed & am doing as you suggested already I am installing my mods and I *think* the issue is something to do with the admin template mod. Anyway, thank you for trying to help.
