Default Huh! Template overide - no sideboxes?

This is on a local computer test site with ZC 1.3.8

I copied and renamed the includes/ templates/classic directory to includes/ templates/mytemplate and modified template_info.php to change the name.

Then in the admin console I switched the template from classic to mytemplate. I looked at the user's view and my side boxes were gone. In the Layout Boxes controller everything was turned off with the following message:

    WARNING: New boxes found: banner_box.php banner_box2.php banner_box_all.php best_sellers.php categories.php currencies.php document_categories.php ezpages.php featured.php information.php languages.php manufacturer_info.php manufacturers.php more_information.php music_genres.php order_history.php product_notifications.php record_companies.php reviews.php search.php search_header.php shopping_cart.php specials.php tell_a_friend.php whats_new.php whos_online.php

    Wha??????

Instead of copying the classic folder should I copy and rename the template_default folder? (From the warning message I don't think it would matter.)

This is how it works ...

On a new template it will add all of the sideboxes turned off ... there is a button at the bottom to reset to the default settings ... then you can customize from there ...

When you change a template you need to reset your sideboxes. Scroll down on the sideboxes manager and click the re-set button.

This is a very important part of changing templates, as a lot of the control of the appearance of sideboxes is embedded in the tpl_....php files. (which you may CHANGE when you switch templates)

Sigh, I hate having to reset all those boxes....

Oh, well, if that's the only quirk when setting up an override template...

You'll be happy to know that in the future 2.0 release, there are some improvements to the handling of the content in the sidebars.

There's also a mod that allows you to set your sidebox settings as the default.
