    Default zencart backup problem

hello, for the back up of my zencart files, is that i have to copy all of the files in my host ? by the way i 'm using some ftp to download the zen files, however i cannot do mass download at a time, i try to select all the files at my host and copy to my c drive,
there must be some files cannot download due to connection fail, and need me to manually restart the particually download again , is there any way to do the whole backup copy process once only? and have to make sure no file missed! it's time spending for me to create copy files and click thousand of time at the ftp software windows~ thx

Do you have a control panel with your hosting package? If so, you probably have a File Manager, and most of those have the option to compress.

I just compress the entire contents of my Zencart root directory into a .zip file, then download that. I install Zencart the same way, except in reverse - upload the Zencart zip file, then extract it in File manager.

That explains much of your problem. Their "C-Panel" is awful, and is really limited in terms of true webmaster functionality.

spoke too soon...net2ftp wouldn't zip my root directory because it took too long and I don't see File Manager on my Dreamhost web panel so now I'm back to figuring out how to back up my site...

i think i might have figured it out and it was quite simple... in my ftp i checked the box for my root directory and then clicked download. After a few minutes a dialog box showed on my screen and I saved a zip file 6.8 mb to my mac so I'm assuming that was it...
