Category/SubCategory image and links not displaying

Hello,

I have searched the forum and found what i thought would fix my problem with displaying the subcategories text / images on a main page when viewed but it turns out I have the settings correct but for the life of me I cant figure out why they are not showing

This is a main category view yet the main page view does not show the subcategories.

I am using zen cart v1.3.8a

I have checked my settings and I have the below checked / set as shown:

Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating
Show Sub-Categories on Main Page while navigating through Categories

0= off
1= on

Maximum Values -
Categories To List Per Row
How many categories to list per row 3

Categories - Always Show on Main Page - 1 (on)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

I think I may have stumbled upon something that is affecting the sub categories and images from showing.

I noticed that I also do not have Filter results drop down list appearing on the store.

I checked the admin settings and the Include Product Listing Alpha Sorter Dropdown is set to true.

Which template file would be used to show the product categories page in the link here:

I think something may have been mixed up on this template file that is stopping the subcategories and the filter droplist from appearing, i just do not know which template file to check

Yes I am, is that the problem?

I just tried removing the template file tpl_index_categories.php from the templates folder and then the categories appeared, so that file is definitely the trouble, just not sure what is causing it.

subcategory icons/thumbnails on the main (center) area.. it has been removed to reduce clutter.

To make it same as the orginal template, you can just delete the tpl_index_categories.php file from \includes\templates\freetemplate2\templates\ folder

Great thanks for the help. I did remove that file and it fixed the trouble but i wasnt sure if it was a needed file :-) seems to be working okay.

The file is not needed I got that advise from Vincint @ zen flaver the guy who built the template!!!

I wonder if this fix would work on the freetemplate3. I'm having the same problem with it, the sub-categories aren't showing up on any of the pages other than in the category sidebox.

On the same lines as this. I want to turn off the "Filter results" drop down. I have the it turned off so it no longer shows up when navigating down through subcategories or searching but it still shows up when using the "manufacturers" menu. I would like it turned off then as well.
