You do not appear to be able to connect to your database in either the store or the admin ...

Has anything changed on your server?

I have the same "no database connection" message, too. What do you mean by "has anything changed on your server"? What's an example of something that could have changed? Is this an issue that I should take up with my host?

Recently, my host sent me an e-mail address that someone had tried to execute a malicious code in a few of my PHP files. I deleted those files. Would that cause the problem? One of them was called record_company.php I believe.

Deleting code can cause a lot of problems ...

Not knowing what was deleted and why causes problems in trying to diagnose what might be wrong ...

One thing that might help is to use something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com and see what has been changed, altered, missing etc. from the original Zen Cart software and your site ...

It may help you discover what the problem is ...

Check to verify that you have a database via phpMyAdmin ... if you do, check the username and passeword that is setup for that database ...

Something is preventing the connection to the database but there are a lot of causes to this and you say your site was hacked and it sounds like you have removed files rather than fixed files ...
