    Default Defines Page Editor

    Hi,

I have installed zen cart successfully, however i am getting the following message everytime i want to edit a page in defines page editor -

Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home2/electro/public_html/includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php

I have my configure.php permissions set to 777 already, so i'm stuck on what i need to do. Any ideas? My domain is www.electrobitz.com

First, you want your configure.php files set to 644 or less - that'll also get rid of that warning on your page.

It's the includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/ folder you want set to 777 while you're editing files.

You also want to set up your custom template, rather than editing the 'classic' files.

Ahh, i see, thanks for that. So if i install a new template, would i need to carry out the same procedures you just mentioned, for instance changing the new template folder permissions to 777? I had the configure.php set to 777 from installation. I have changed it to 644 like you said, and it works fine.

If you create your own CUSTOM template, you'll need to set the permissions for that folder to 777 in order to edit the files.

I installed gloss_black template into "includes/templates" directory and selected it through Admin however the contents of the define pages and other settings resetted. Is there a way i can keep the contents of the define pages, sideboxes etc intact no matter which templates i use? If i decided to change templates time to time, it's going to cause problems.
