Search Issue - why are certain results missing?

Hi,

I did a zen-cart implementation recently and was presented with a weird issue regarding the search feature. There are around 4 products with similar names and when we search something like:

HP C8061X

we get results like C8061XR, HPC8061AR but not C8061A. Why doesn't C8061A come up when we search since 4 of them already match?

It's:

However per client request the catalogue isn't able to be browsed without login and authentication. So I dont think it will help much.

To establish what I mean, if you go to:

http://www.laserlink-ccsf.com

and login as :

email: shazaam3@hotm ail.com
pw: sanfrancisco

You can see the search problem I'm talking about. Is there a minimum match thing in zen-cart so I can lower?

You might look at what you have in your product meta tags as they are searched too ...

Often times you can utilize the meta tags to relate products that do not have the information in the products_name or products_description that you want to relate in a search ...

Um, actually, no, you get "C8061XR" and "HP C8061X".
At least, that's all I saw when I just did the search you described.

Well, that would be because C8061A is *not* C8061X

Searching for C8061A brings back "C8061A" and "HPC8061AR".

So ... as far as I can tell, it's doing exactly what you're asking it to do.

Too bad I didn't check this. I used the meta tag method and just made sure to put "HP" there so that it would bring up that product. Thanks guys!
