Change Template, Images and text.

I am using the lastest version 1.3.8a No addon installed. I AM A NEWBE and have read all the documentation concerning change test and images. Also the override system which I do not understand. I first had no problem install the cart on my computer. Using the default template was able to set categories and sub- categories and load products into the cat. Everything went fine up to that point. I wanted to change template so I downloaded the ArikiTEC-hd black form the zen-cart site. Now this is where things started to fall apart. I wanted to start changing Logos and test in the cart. I am told to move certain files to the new cart but I don't know what files to move where. I don't want to override the files already in to new cart. I am really confused at this point In the new directory under store (my cart Directory) Store/includes/languages/english/html_includes I made a directory for ArkiTEC-hd Black and istall the file that I downloaded. Now I need to change text in the center box on the home page. And also change text on the sidebars and also the header of the site needs a have my logo instead of the one there. I am at this point going crazy as to what file need to be copies from the original template to the new one and where I am to copies files for changing image, and text for the new template. How do I make some sense of all this?
And when I make the changes, Am I making these changes in html within the php files. I wanted to use the define page editor, but it does not bring up all the files I want to edit. Does that mean I have them in the wrong directory? Help!!!!

If the original file you need to edit is in "/includes/languages/english/html_includes" You can create a folder in that directory named the same as the template you downloaded(If it does not already exist).
If the original file you need to edit is in "includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/" You can create a folder in that directory named the same as the template you downloaded(If it does not already exist).
Then copy the file you need to change into that folder(Before editing it).
Zencart will look for the file in the override directory you just made. If it cant find it the it will revert to template_default to find the files it needs.
As far as what files to edit, Admin>Tools>Developers Tool Kit is a very useful function in zencart.
