Cart/Image Handler 2 not displaying large pictures

I am new to Zen Cart as of yesterday. I have installed EZ Poplulate and Image Handler successfully, to my own surprise!

Prior to the Image Handler install, I used Photoshop and resized and optimized copies of all of my images _LRG and _MED and placed them all in the correct folders. They display in the image handler display but I am not able to get the medium or large images when I preview my items via the admin/catalog/categories and products.

The small image shows up fine but it doesn't get bigger when I roll over it like I thought image handler would do, it doesn't let me click on it and pop-up a larger version like I thought Zen Cart did stock. I just don't seem to be able to utilize my larger higher resolution images for some reason.

I am sure a lot of my problem is in this part of my set up.

Some threads said I should upload the main image through the admin side rather than via ftp. Could this be causing the issue. I have over 500 items, there has to be a way around that if so. I have all the proper image references on the items and they are showing up ok....just won't get larger for me.

If you're using Image Handler2, you can just upload a single large image to the images/ folder instead of the small one - don't use the _LRG suffix... IH2 will make the smaller images it needs.

What sizes will it make for the other images it creates?

Will I need to match those dimension up in my image settings?

So basically, delete all of my images via FTP then re-upload the highest quality images I have via FTP.

IH uses the base image (whatever you load into the images directory) to create the small and medium images... but the large image is rendered at whatever size and resolution that your uploaded image is...

In other words, if you load up a 5mb image, or 2400px X 2400px - than while your SMALL and MEDIUM images will be re-created by IH, your LARGE image will still load as a 5mb file, and will display in the popup as 2400 X 2400.

So... it is still necessary to optimize your images.

I try to keep all large images under 100kb, and 600px X 450px .

I'm getting crazy with IH2

Just when I thought problems were over it seems to stay. I have IH2 Rev 7 installed with latest Lightbox version.

My images folder containts a bunch of folders with manufacturers names so when I upload an image to a product (using IH2) I choose the right folder before uploading the image. What then happens is, I go to the product's page and no image appears. A quick check revealed its looking for the picture under images/medium/levono(for example)/xxx.jpg. Looking at this folder using FTP shows there no image there. I thought IH2 suppose to take one image and generate it for all sizes?!...The only solution I found to this was modifying 'tpl_main_product_image.php' so it doesn't look for the images under medium or large folders, but this is absord since I thought IH2 suppose to work with these files out of the box. I noticed that the only files regarding functionality of main product image and additional images are the ones under the 'modules' folder.

Thats one problem actually. The other problem is that IH2 doesn't seem to intiate Lightbox, its just using the old POPUP.

Would appreciate any help with this.

Main PHP issues with IH2 were over but I still get this error when I go into IH2.

"Warning: strstr() [function.strstr]: Empty delimiter. in /home/xxx/domains/xxx/public_html/includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php on line 128"

I checked the file and its a stock version of the IH2 installation.

Funny thing, on another cart with IH2 I have on the server I get no errors at all.

Can some one please help me on this? I have installed the image handler2 for Zen and it works really well for my first category. However I don't see a preview for my second category/item. Have a look at: Dimond category:

Here the images works as expected. However the below link it does not.

So the watches are not displayed on thumbnail nor product details although I have uploaded all the images. What am I doing wrong here? Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I realize this is an old thread, but schoolboy said something that intrigues me.

I only need one image for my product. I installed IH because I thought the whole point of having IH was that, with a single large image upload, all three sizes that are needed could be served when needed, and that the native size/dimensions of my large uploaded file would remain intact after uploading.

Okay, my large file is uploaded at 500x665, and, although it IS stored permanently on the server at that size, IH serves it from the bmz cache at 413x550 when the large image is called for the popup window.

What am I not understanding? And is there a setting for simply allowing the large image to be served at its native size? If so, does the popup window size need to be adjusted?
