Complex shipping options?

We have been useing a flat rate system for a while now, but occasionally this gets expensive to some customers, so we need to come up with a different solution.

Problem -

1. Some items are very heavy and shouldnt be combined with other items for shipping, thus I guess we need to use ship by item for these products.

2. We have lots of other small and light weight items that can be combined into a box and shipped seperately to the large bulky one offs, thus I would guess ship by weight is ideal for this.

3. We also have some products drop shipped from other suppliers who can ship multiples of the product say 4 itmes max per shipping cost, thus a different ship by weight needed here.



How can we solve this so the site will take the different products into consideration and thus charge the customer accordingly?

I know it's a commercially available option, but Conor Kerr's Advanced Shipper module will solve practically EVERY shipping conundrum zenners face.
