Moved from Win to Linux - Unable to download products

I am in the process of a move to a new host. A host that uses unix/linux and apache instead of Windows IIS (like my old host).

Everything seems to be working fine, except for download products.

Whenever a person purchases a downloadable product, they click on the link for downloading, and it pulls up a dialog box asking for a user name and password.

Please HELP!!! I need to figure out what settings to use for making the downloads work again!!!!

Fixed -- turned out to be some of the lines in the .htaccess file that was requiring an authorized user -- commenting them out fixed it right up.
