Can anyone tell me Why my home page looks like this?

Dear Successful Zen Cart users,

Remember those days when you had frustration after frustrtion installing your first Zen Cart?

I am now now at that stage needing your help.

I just installed (this is my second tries) V1.38a, and created all the custom directories all by the name of /phoup .

Can anyone tell me why my home page looks like this not picking up images? Where do I tell Zen Cart that my custom directory name is phoup? What should be my next move?

That is because the stylesheet.css file is not being applied for whatever reason.

This is because there are these errors on your server.:

So it is a permissions issue. What permissions have you set for the stylesheet on the server?

I appreciate very much for your quick reply to my first post here...

All I did was to set the attributes of the file ( I forgot which one was...

) to get rid of the RED warning that used to appear on top of the first home I saw when I installed first.

maybe my sticky fingers did wrong to some other directories as well???

Per your advice, I just made the directory of /includes/templates/phoup/images to 777 but the page remains the same....

Any further advice? Did you use the manual they sell here? So far I followed the tutorials...

The path to the file is:

/zencart1/includes/templates/phoup/css/stylesheet.css

That is the file that you are unable to access. Find out what its permissions are. But it may signal a bigger problem with permissions which will show up later.

Which ftp program are you using?

Thanks to you, I now have my home looking more like the first page I initially gotten after installation.

I have gained some confidence as well in myself.

Unless you helped me, I'd almost give up this program.... for ShopRite Pro which is quite expensive program...

I owe you a favor here...

Permissions can be a headache. Stick with it. It is a steep learning curve at the start but will all be worth it! You'll have lots of 'Oh I get it moments.'

I am still struggleing with the following error notice:

My webhosting service admin looked into the situation and adviced me that all's well.

I tried to make all the files in the image directory even to 777 with no success...

I really thought I had replied to this already! Must be going mad.

I looked before (yesterday?) and saw that you had images up and working. Tell me that I am not imaging seeing images of photos on mugs etc. Please tell me that I am not imagining that!

Have you still got problems? Let me know and I'll have a look.

Dear Niccole,

Thanks to your encouragements, {YES, you are not imagining...,} actually I was able to set up Zen Cart V1.3.8. And I am now waiting for the store owner (my friend) to come up with products by categories.

The products that you saw on my zen cart site were somebody else which I borrowed temprarily to show my friend that ZenCart can work for us.

My friend was willing to dole out a couple of thousand dollars for ShopRite Pro (?) seeing the frustration that I went through with Zen Cart. Without your help, I must have given up with Zen Cart.

At this moment, I am looking for ways to change the "Page 2" at more information which is at the left sidebox to something else.

P.S. The permission problem is still there. I believe it is a bug that I get it when I press PREVIEW button at the Tools> Template selection (my webhosting admin seems to have given up on that issue as well... for I have gotten no reply for a day or two so far...)
