USPS Rates too low since postage increase

Postage increases went into effect a few weeks ago, but they still appear to be too cheap in ZenCart. I have the USPS module setup with a $2.00 handling fee, and the actual postage was a little more than the total that was charged to the customer.

It has always been accurate in the past - is anyone else seeing discrepancies between the USPS rates charged in ZenCart and the actual cost?

Check your settings on the Shipping/Packaging for the Maximum Weight Shipping, the Tare setting and on the USPS shipping module check your setting for machinable ...

• The maximum weight is set to 50 (these are books that weigh a maximum of 1.5 lbs.).
  
• The tare setting is set to 0:0.
  
• All packages are machinable is set to false.

Looks like the one setting that may help is the tare...not sure what to set it to, though...

The Tare setting adds more weight to the order for boxes and packaging ...

Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight
What is the weight of typical packaging of small to medium packages?
Example: 10% + 1lb 10:1
10% + 0lbs 10:0
0% + 5lbs 0:5
0% + 0lbs 0:0

Our USPS module (api code) is two years+ old. IS there a need to update it? I read on another thread that there is new code as of X/2008, but.....
