    help question User permissions

I've recently installed the latest version of Zen Cart directly from the hosting account I use. This is the first time I've tried Zen Cart. I'm unable to amend anything - I get the message; "Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home3......." if I try to do anything. Is this a server issue or Zen Cart issue?
I've tried setting up new users, and logging on using those user names, but I'm unable to do that - I can only log on using the original user name and password I set up for the hosting account.
I've checked that all user permissions are allowed in my Zen Cart.
The hosting company I use is ImHosted.
    Can anyone help?

Although you don't state what the current file permissions are, trying using 777 to edit then change back to 755 when finished.

Thanks for that, Website Rob. How do I set file permissions to 777? I can't see anywhere that I have an option to change (or even see) a number. I've searched through Zen Cart, and my database on the server.

Best way to set your permissions (CHMOD - look this up on wikipedia to see what it means) - is to do so via your hosting account C-Panel.

The permissions setting tools are within the FILE MANAGER menu option on your C-Panel.

READ the ZC installation instructions (Page 1 I think tells you what permission settings you need for various folders).

As I said, look up CHMOD to see what all this "permissions" stuff means.

(Are you on a WINDOWS or a LINUX server??? permission setting technique is different on these server types).

you can only set file , folder permission either through FTP program or File manager that is within your hosting Account. the program should be in your Control panel when you log in to your Account provided by your Host .
